In partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, and local enterprises, and backed by the Inter-American Development Bank, Ecuador has developed Violet Tourism to spotlight the stories of independent women, particularly those from rural areas. Many of these women have faced challenges such as domestic violence and neglect, yet have risen above adversity to become empowered figures within their communities. Through this project, they share their struggles, victories, and experiences with visitors, offering a powerful narrative of resilience and gender equality.
Using internationally recognized guidelines, this initiative is set to become a model for a more equitable and inclusive tourism industry. By promoting the leadership and active involvement of women, Violet Tourism encourages both entrepreneurship and responsible tourism. The project highlights the role of women as community leaders and champions of gender equality, creating a platform for them to thrive and inspire.
An Authentic Travel Experience to Meet Local Women
