Merina Begg

Founder of Americas

After growing up in Argentina, Founder Merina Begg moved to the UK for ten years, where she worked for a luxury tour operator helping the team set up their Latin America product. It was so successful that she set up her own representation company. Firstly, to represent her father’s DMC in Argentina, to assist the team in convincing operators in the UK to feature Argentina, which was up-and-coming as a tourist destination (the idea of working in summer year-round – 50% in England and 50% in Argentina – rather appealed). This was not financially viable, therefore she started offering Americas services to other DMCs in Latin America and partners from several countries were incorporated. For ten years Americas also ran a very successful B2B workshop for the UK trade and this workshop was taken over by LATA and is now known as LATA Expo.

Today, Merina lives in Argentina and runs her own company called Argentina Travel Partners, which is represented by Americas.

Katrina Mowbray

Managing Director

After graduating with a degree in Social Anthropology Katrina spent a year travelling throughout South America, where she fell in love with the continent’s vibrancy, impressive landscapes and friendly people. So much so that she rented an apartment and found work to extend her stay in Argentina. On her return to the UK, Katrina wanted to share her passion for travel to Latin America and started working for a tour operator in their sales and marketing team.

Katrina has always been drawn back to the Americas, to research and learn more about travel to the region. In 2017 she took a sabbatical to travel and explore Mexico and Central America, whilst living and teaching English in Guatemala.

In 2019 Katrina started working for Americas. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for travel to the Americas. She is always on hand to offer advice, training and support to companies who want to diversify their product and sell more trips.
