Our History, Mission & Values
Founded in 1991 by Merina Begg, Americas provides UK tour operators with independent, reputable, and personable destination management companies.
Americas is a pioneer known for their quality Latin American partners, and trustworthy longstanding service to the travel industry.
Our mission is to offer innovative products and enhance value to those selling tours to the Americas. Our values include creativity, friendliness, and protecting people and nature in the long term.
Katrina Mowbray
Managing Director
Katrina holds a degree in Social Anthropology and has always been passionate about exploring other cultures, particularly in Latin America. After graduation, she spent a year exploring South America with friends, immersing herself in its vibrant cultures, stunning landscapes, and warm hospitality. Her love for the region led her to extend her stay in Argentina, where she lived and worked.
Upon returning to the UK, Katrina turned her passion into a career by joining a tour operator, focusing on sales and marketing for Latin American destinations. Her curiosity and dedication to the Americas have continued to grow over the years working in travel. In 2017, she took a sabbatical to explore Mexico and Central America, while living and teaching English in Guatemala and working as a freelance travel blogger.
Since joining Americas in 2019, Katrina has been an invaluable asset, sharing her deep knowledge and enthusiasm for the region. She is always eager to offer advice, provide training, and support businesses looking to expand their travel offerings to Latin America.
Millie Fox
MARKETING & ADMINISTRATION MANAGER
Millie’s first ever encounter with Latin America was when she travelled to Mexico one summer out of university. It was during this trip that her passion for the region was sparked, and she has not looked back since.
During her 20 years’ in the travel industry, Millie has been lucky enough to explore far and wide, but it was the life and soul of Latin America that drew her in and has since become a homing beacon in all adventures.
Throughout her career, Millie has worked with a variety of tour operators, from budget backpacking to high-end luxury, accumulating a broad and deep knowledge of the travel industry. In 2015, she set off on a solo adventure, travelling from Mexico to Brazil. Upon returning to the UK, Millie decided to fully dedicate her expertise to specialising in Latin American travel, focusing on product development and sales.
Robin Begg
SENIOR ADVISOR
Robin, a partner of Americas for 35 years, has been involved in commerce across the region in Latin America.
He started his career in finance in the City of London, a position that allowed him to travel extensively and gain valuable insights into international markets. He has experience in many commercial areas and considers it a privilege to have led enterprises in farming, hospitality, reinsurance and travel. Robin has contributed to quality management at all levels over a number of disciplines and is now focusing on travel and introducing the highest quality of destination-management to the UK market.
“It helps to be interested in the history of the destinations we deal with and I am passionate about learning from the past. I am also very aware that we need to be dynamic to keep up with the rapidly increasing pace of change in travel”.
Robin and his wife Teleri live in the west country and travel widely.
